As the world is somewhat becoming accustomed to wearing face masks, a new struggle has arisen. What to do with your mask when you take it off? Say you temporarily need to get rid of it while you eat or drink. Some people place it on the table, an armrest or just leave it hanging around their necks. As you can imagine might be problematic when you put it back on. In response to this common problem Milan-based designer Salvo Lo Cascio has conjured up the SaniCase: a handy case to keep you and your mask clean.

The SaniCase proposes to be a safe place to store your mask when you’re not using it. The case sports a cylindrical design with a special compartment for your new companion. Inside UV-C lights await the arrival of anything of debatable hygiene and take care of germs and viruses (at least we imagine you could also put something else in the case to get sanitized). And then when you’re ready to get going, your mask should be squeaky clean.

Of course you don’t want to be touching that freshly cleaned mask with dirty hands. The SaniCase also has a solution for that in the form spray functionality at the bottom to grace your hands with some sanitizer. And the best part: the case is roughly the size of a roll of quarters, so you shouldn’t have any trouble carrying it with you.

Unfortunately the sanitizing case isn’t on the market yet. Lo Casio developed it as a concept to address the newly arrived problem. The good news is that the designer is partnering up with partners, producers and vendors to bring the device to the real world.

In the meantime Samsung has also been busy with UV-lights. Earlier this year tech company released it’s own sanitizing case to keep your smartphone free of germs.
