If you’re a passionate instagrammer you know that finding the perfect background is key to taking follower-worthy pictures. It can be tricky though to find that perfect backdrop to frame your fabulous self. If you’re looking for inspiration the Mori Building Digital Art Museum in Japan should definitely be on your bucket list.

First digital museum

The Mori Buidling Art Museum is the first museum to solely feature digital art. Different rooms spread over 10.000 square-meters offer visitors all kinds of immersive experiences. Walk through a field of digital flowers, bathe beneath a virtual waterfall or become one with the artworks in one of the many mirror rooms.

On display are 50 different installations powered by 520 computers and 470 projectors. The artworks are all interactive and can be influenced by visitors though the accompanying app. Sounds like the perfect way to create your unique Insta background. The different artworks can influence each other and surprisingly move out of rooms. There’s even something to do for the little ones as children can have their coloring pages projected on the walls.

Art without boundaries

Art collective TeamLab and MORI building are responsible for this digital world of wonder that is described by the museum as a “world of artworks without boundaries” and a “museum without a map”. If you want to experience it for yourself, you’ll have to visit the Japanese island Odaiba. No it’s not around the corner, but it should definitely be worth it.

On the other hand you don’t have to travel to Japan to enjoy digital art on the wall. The Etsy app can actually help out in that department and you don’t even have to leave your house for it. Of course the experience won’t be as mind blowing, but it can be useful if you’re looking for a new painting.
