Sometimes you come across a plant so interesting or a dog so incredibly adorable, you just have to know what it is on the spot. Back in the day you’d have to head over to a forum for answers or worse spend the rest of your life not knowing. Nowadays there are several apps to help you out and Snapchat just became one of them.
Snapchat plus Dog Scanner and PlantSnap
Last week Snap announced partnerships with PlantSnap and Dog Scanner. As the names would suggest PlantSnap helps you figure out exactly what plant you’re looking at, while Dog Scanner does the same for good boys. Thanks to the partnerships that functionality has now been added directly to the Snapchat camera.
So if you point the camera at a certain tree PlantSnap’s AI kicks into action and tells you what you’re looking at. The app should be able to identify 90 percent of the plants and trees you encounter. Dog Scanner on the other hand is able to recognize 400 dog breeds.

Louis Vuitton lense
The identifying features aren’t the only new things being added to the app. Snap also unveiled a partnership with luxury brand Louis Vuitton. If users point the Snapchat camera at the monogram logo and hold, they will get more info on the new collection. Another new addition to the app is the integration of Yuka. This allows users to scan food and cosmetics for ingredients.
