Stop pinching your nose and use AI to stop that snoring

What is more annoying than not being able to fall asleep? Not being able to sleep because the person next to you is snoring. And because snoring isn’t too great for the one inflicting the noise terror either, a lot of gadgets exist to deal with the problem. Unfortunately most of them don’t really work. A few promising new gadgets however are said to be the ultimate answer. And this time it’s artificial intelligence that’s supposed to save the day (night).

Zerema the smart pillow

Lets start with Zerema, or as its makers call it, the world’s smartest pillow. It seems a lot more comfortable than those gadgets that pinch your nose, so why not? So what does this smart pillow actually do to keep you or your partner from embarking on a nightly snore fest? Snoring mainly happens when your airway is obstructed. By the position you’re sleeping for example. Zerema is said to detect when your snoring at which point it automatically adjusts the height of the pillow to correct your position. It’s able to do this thanks to an embedded air cushion and pump mechanism and the pillow even learns to distinguish your snoring from other sounds.

The smart pillow isn’t only useful for snorers though. A good sleep position is important for everyone and a good pillow should properly support you while you sleep. With the right height and angle for your neck, you should find yourself tossing and turning a lot less to get comfy. And of course Zerema is able to help you out in that department, according to its makers. An accompanying app is also part of the gig to monitor your sleep pattern and give you more insight on your sleeping habits.

As you might have suspected Zerema is a Kickstarter project. If you want to give it a go you can get the smart pillow for 179 USD. But as usual be cautious when getting involved with crowdfunding campaigns.

Anti-snoring AI bracelet

Next up is DreamIT X3, the AI bracelet that promises a good night’s sleep. The smart bracelet uses your pulse, movement, respiratory rate and other physiological data to determine if you’re snoring. If it decides that you are the bracelet starts vibrating to gently get you to change your position and thereby open up your airway.

Obviously there’s also an app involved to track your sleep pattern. The app uses machine learning to get to know you better and adapts the treatment you receive from the bracelet based on the gathered data. This way the smart bracelet should get smarter and more effective over time.
