Doorbells that just ring to summon you to the door, seem to be a thing of the past. More and more people switch over to connected doorbells, that let you check out who’s outside before deciding if you’re going to get up or not. Some systems even let you open the door from afar. A newcomer to the market is the Yobi Video Doorbell B3. It has its flaws, but it will definitely bring some style to your front door.

The Yobi B3 adds a touch of glam, while still being very practical. Once the doorbell is installed it immediately starts sending Full HD 1080 video footage to your smartphone. It even works with Apple HomeKit so you can send Siri to do your dirty work. Of course you don’t want to constantly be looking at your screen (or maybe you do?), and that’s why the smart doorbell is outfitted with PIR sensors. If they detect any motion, you’ll get a notification so you can check it out. There’s also infrared night vision and the thing is obviously weather resistant.

It all sounds pretty okay, but as I mentioned there are a few issues. Fist off the Yobi B3 needs to be installed using your existing doorbell wiring and chime. And if that’s not a problem, the doorbell unfortunately doesn’t record any video footage. So when you catch someone in the act, there’s no evidence of it. But while the doorbell won’t help you with any crime solving, it’s still handy to see who’s at the front door. And the thing does switch to the live feed pretty quickly. If you want to give it a go, you can get Yobi B3 on meetyobi.com for 199 USD.
