Italian automaker Lamburghini is one of the latest Luxury companies to join the world of NFTs. Next month the car manufacturer will be launching 5 space themed NFTs in true Lamborghini style. And tying into the whole theme is an accompanying Space Key, containing a piece of carbon fiber that actually went into space.

Lamborghini Space Time Memory

The project has been coined Space Time Memory with Swiss artist Fabian Oefner designing the quite intricate looking NFTs. As his work is known to explore the boundaries between time, space, and reality, it seems like a perfect fit for what Lamborghini is trying to achieve with the tokens.

“For me, Space Time Memory is an analogy to the memories we make in life,” said Oefner. “Memories are rooted in the physical world; we make them in reality. We then store them in our brains, what could be considered the digital world. I often wonder, what is more precious to me, the actual moment or the memory of that moment?.”

Disintegrating into space

The NFTs showcase 5 stages of a Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae escaping into the dark void of space, while disintegrating like only a Lambo could. At first glance it might seem computer generated because of it’s intricity. Oefner however made thousands of photos of 1,500 individual car parts to create the 600 million pixel images. That means a ridiculous high level of detail and NFT owners should be able to zoom in to discover hyperrealistic hidden features.

To access the NFTs buyers will get a physical Space Key engraved with a QR-code that links to the corresponding NFT. All of the keys contain a piece of carbon fiber that Lamborghini sent to the international Space Station back in 2020. The car company claims to be the first in its branch to send components to the ISS for scientific purposes.

Get your hands on Lamborghini NFTs

If you want to get your hands on a piece of Lamborghini space carbon and the corresponding NFT you can head over to nft.lamborghini.com to register. The auction is set to start on February 1st at 4:00 PM CET and will last for 75 hours and 50 minutes. Incidentally, that’s the exact time it took Apollo 11 to leave Earth and enter the moon’s orbit.

You might have noticed that a lot of company’s have been entering the NFT space, and Lamborghini certainly won’t be the last. Last year Gucci played around with non fungible tokens and more recently even Atari made an appearance in the form of a very bright NFT sneaker.
