Apple’s App Store is full of fun (and less fun) games to try out on your iPhone or iPad. But as with all things in life some games inevitably look a lot better than others. And although they say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, we definitely think these are some of the finest looking games the App Store has to offer.
Alto’s Adventure
Price: 1.99 USD
Alto’s Adventure is all about serenity and snowboarding. The game is set in a remote snowy village and takes you along the Alps on an adventure with Alto and his friends. This must seriously be the most beautiful snowboarding game yet, but don’t get too Zen from the light snowflakes, skillfully crafted scenery and floating lanterns. The goal is still to get as much points as possible with your mad snowboarding skills.

Monument Valley
Price: 3.99 USD
Monument Valley is a game that seriously challenges your spatial awareness and creativity. The goal is to get your character from point A to point B, but (as always) there’s a catch. It’s not as simple as jumping over obstacles, but every level feels like a living Escher design. And obviously there are still obstacles you have to avoid. We definitely recommend the game, but be prepared to get reasonably frustrated.

Mountain
Price: 0.99 USD
Third on the list is Mountain and just as you’d expect the game is about a mountain. But in this case the mountain is you. Sounds a bit weird, but in this nature simulation game you experience life as a mountain and can generate your very own unique self.

Year Walk
Price: 3.99 USD
In Year Walk you delve into the mysterious world of 19th century Sweden and experience the ancient Swedish phenomena of year walking in a search to foresee the future. The walk in questions happens through dark woods where you encounter a bunch of freaky creatures and the lines get blurred between reality and the supernatural.

Limbo
Price: 3.99 USD
Limbo is a reasonably old game and started out on the PC. But even after all those years it’s still a game worth playing if you like beauty, mystery and Saw. While you find you way through a misty forest, be every so cautious. Because although the game is quite minimalist, that doesn’t make it any less shocking when you get slaughtered by one of the many booby-traps.

That’s it for the list, but of course there are many other beautiful games to be found in the App Store. Let us know what other games you’ve encountered that are worthy of being on “the most beautiful” list.
