Halloween is just around the corner and most of us probably have just about everything planned for the occasion. Carved pumpkins, bowls of slippery “eyes” and scary costumes, to name a few things. What you might not know is that Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa is also up for some Halloween fun. So if you have an Echo speaker lying around, you should definitely try out these five spooky things.
Costume ideas
First off you’ll need a scary costume for Halloween and if you haven’t found anything yet, Alexa can help you with some ideas. Install the “Halloween Costume Ideas” in your Alexa app and tell the virtual assistant to “open Halloween Costume Ideas”. The assistant will ask you several ” yes” or ” no” questions to determine your perfect Halloween costume.

Scary sounds
Obviously a Halloween party isn’t complete without some scary sounds and that’s exactly what Alexa can deliver on the 31st of October (or any other day). There are several skills that can help you out. Try “Spooky Halloween Sounds” for example or give “Spooky Sounds” a go. The latter plays 50 glorious minutes of spooky sounds when you say “Alexa, open Spooky sounds”. Then there’s also the skill “Spooky Scream” to scare the hell out of everyone with a random scream at a time of your choosing.
Halloween music
If you’re not a fan of spooky sounds but enjoy an evening of Halloween music, you should try the “Halloween Party Soundtrack” on Amazon Music or Spotify. Ask Alexa to play the playlist for you or just go for the “Halloween Music” skill for a gloomy ambiance.

Terrifying stories
And then if you really want to get creeped out, you could also ask Alexa to tell you a scary story. This works best if you’re somewhere naturally scary like a graveyard. Just don’t play the game ” Light as a feather” while you’re there. To get the assistant to tell you a scary story, just ask ” Alexa, tell me a spooky story”. If you find these stories a bit too much on the cheesy side, you could also try the ” Scare Me” skill for some more oomph.
What’s your favorite scary game?
Some people like to play scary games on Halloween (but like we said not “Light as a feather”). If you’re up for a game there are a few options. You could try ” Ghost Detector” to become a real life Ghostbuster. “Haunted Adventure” is (as the name would suggest) a spooky adventure game for you and your friends to pass the night. Then there’s also “Halloween Feel the Pressure” as a slightly scarier version of the game “Feel the Pressure”.
